Frequently asked questions

Do I need a doctor's referral for a scan?

Most scans are done on a doctor's advice, so the right test is chosen for your symptoms. Our team can guide you when you call.

What is the difference between an MRI and a CT scan?

A CT scan uses X-rays and is quick, which suits emergencies and many chest and abdominal conditions. An MRI uses a magnetic field and gives fine detail of soft tissues such as the brain, spine and joints.

How should I prepare for a scan?

Some scans need fasting or the removal of metal objects. You will be told what to do when your scan is booked.

When will I get my report?

Your scan is reported by our radiologist and shared with your treating doctor, who will explain the results to you.
